Svelte™ Colorado FSC — Free Speed Carbon
Faster drop
bars. Bar none.
Real gains, not marginal gains with marginal results. Our patented drops take the shortest path from the hoods to an ergonomic tuck — and leave your tops exactly where you spend most of your ride.
N'AERO 3DD™ model 42/33 — tops to drops, centre to centre.
SVELTE Colorado FSC — $640 · in stock · 42/33, 44/35, 46/37
A conventional straight drop bar returns roughly 80 seconds on the same move — published hoods-to-drops CdA deltas of about 0.02 m², converted at Specialized's Win Tunnel figure of 4 seconds per 0.001 m² over 40 km. Our inward drops double it. Wind tunnel tested, typical road gear and rider.
Are you leaving free speed on the table?
Two fast positions,
not one contorted one
There is more than one seriously fast aero position. You should not have to ride awkwardly and contorted to find speed, so we made the tops and the drops equally fast and efficient. Our faster positions relieve the biomechanical stress of holding one shape — 90-degree elbows on the tops, for instance — far too long.
Listen to your body. Riding fast should not hurt, and you should not be forced to train a position that may damage you in order to compete. Our drops curve inward by 20% compared with straight drops, and much further compared with flares that point out. You never take a hand off the bar for control or braking — tops or drops.
Frontal area is the whole game
Get small where
it actually counts
The wind charges you for the space you occupy. Narrowing the drops shrinks your frontal area at the one moment you want to be small — head down, into it, working. That is where the seconds live.
The alternative approaches all cost you something. Undersized tops shrink the wrong part of the bar and leave you managing a twitchy front end for the whole ride. Flares that point outward add width where the air is already doing damage. We keep your tops exactly as they are — control, vision, and room where you live — and take the width out below.
Negative flare
Dial your profile
in an instant
Slide your hands up in the hooks for a wide stance, down for pure speed, or anywhere between for conditions and comfort. More options on the bike lead to better performance all round — the reason for drop bars in the first place — and they cost nothing.
Because brakes and shifters stay at your fingertips, reaction time improves too: fast while staying safe. You can even alternate aero positions high and low to rest your core and stay fresh, and fast, for longer.
